Barefoot Baby Sandals

Check out these adorable little barefoot baby sandals my youngest grand-daughter is wearing!

They're perfect for this HOT summer we're having.  My daughter-in-law came up with these.  I think she saw them online somewhere.

Here's a front view.  They didn't have this kind of thing when my girls were babies about thirty years ago!  They just went barefoot in the summer.

And a side view.

And the little model herself.  Without the sandals!! Isn't she a doll?

Republican Elephant Cookies

I made these Republican Elephant cookies for a friend this week.

I did the blue first, then the red, and after those colors were completely dry, I came back and added the white.  I didn't have any color bleeding into the white doing it this way.

The stars are gum paste, cut with a tiny star cutter.

Thanks, Julie!!

Tangled (Rapunzel) Birthday Cake & Cupcakes

This has to be the absolute easiest birthday cake I have ever made!  And it came at the perfect time, since I was crazy busy.  My grand daughter, Emily, turned six and wanted a Tangled birthday party.  Her mom found these printed sugar sheets on eBay.  They were so easy to use!  She said there were several different ones to pick from.  Sorry, I don't have any idea how much they cost.

These were meant for cupcakes, but I decided to use them on cookies instead.  I added purple dots since my cookies were a little bigger than the circle.  I'll have to remember to use a smaller cookie cutter next time.

She picked up these rings too.  I thought they looked cute on the cupcakes and all the little girls loved them!!

Happy Birthday, Emily! I can't believe you're already six!!

Long Horn and Lone Star State Cookies

I made these cookies for my friend for her daughter's wedding (previous post) .  They were for the groom's table.  I usually make Razorback cookies for this particular friend, so this was quite a change!

Here's how they set them up on the table:

Check out that groom's cake!  Not a great picture, but I hope you can get the idea.  I don't think I would even want to attempt a cake like that!

Love them!  And I'm from Missouri . . . .

They had a candy bar as well.  This was a BIG hit with the kids, as you can imagine.  Especially my grand kids!!  They also had Cold Stone Creamery! That was a new one for me. I didn't get any though - the line was too long.

Congrats, Hope and Cheyenne!

Cupcake Debut!

I guess there's a first time for everything.  I normally don't make cupcakes.  I do cakes.  Or cookies.  But I was making cookies for a friend for her daughter's wedding, and she talked me into doing the cupcakes too.  I was happy and relieved that they turned out as well as they did!

These are chocolate (mayonnaise cake) with a chocolate/Nutella filling.  I used whipped topping from Sam's on all of the cupcakes.  For these, I added a bit of the filling to the topping, then garnished with shaved chocolate, and pearls.

These are Red Velvet with a cream cheese filling.  Once again, I added some of the filling to the topping.  I garnished with shaved white chocolate and white sparkle sugar.

These are white with my strawberry cream filling.  Again I added filling to the topping to make it just a tad pink, then garnished with white sparkle sugar and a strawberry slice.

And here they are set up on the cake table.  She had a beautiful wedding cake too (sorry, no picture), which I did not make.  Cookies and cupcake were quite enough!!

And all this just three days after arriving home from our trip to CA!  Glad it's over.

Alice In Wonderland Wedding Cake

Check out this absolutely stunning Alice In Wonderland wedding cake my sister made this past weekend!!

And she's only been making cakes for a little over a year!!  Everything is edible except the hat sash, the ribbon around the bottom of the teapot, the hat pins, peacock feather and the figurines.

Absolutely beautiful!!  Congrats on a job well done, Teresa!!

A Truly Gorgeous Wedding Cake

First of all, just for the record, I didn't make this gorgeous cake!

We went to CA a couple weeks ago for our niece's wedding.  The reception was in their beautiful backyard after a church wedding.  The cake was made by a family member on the other side of the family, who also is the same lady who helped make our wedding cake almost 34 years ago!!

Stunning, isn't it?  The cake, I mean.

And here's the happy couple!

Congrats, Kimberly & Joel!!
